Basilica di Vitruvio Found in Fano: Stay near the History
22/01/2026A recent ANSA special report celebrates our region as a top destination for food and wine tourism.
If you needed one more reason to visit the Marche in 2026, here it is served on a silver platter (or rather, a starred one!). A recent article by ANSA, published at the end of the year, defined our region as a true “Treasure Chest of Taste”, shining a spotlight on a territory that uniquely combines rural tradition with haute cuisine.
Here are the highlights of the news and why we are proud to be part of it here at La Garbatina.
1. The Largest Organic District in Europe
It’s not just a figure of speech: the Marche confirms itself as the absolute leader in organic farming. With over 2,000 certified companies and a cultivated area aiming for record numbers, our region is officially the Largest Organic District in Europe.
For us at La Garbatina, this is no surprise: we see it every day looking out from our “Portafinestra” Room. The valley surrounding us is not only beautiful to look at, but it is “good” and healthy. It is from these lands that many of the zero-mile products we love to serve you at breakfast come from.

2. A Shower of Michelin Stars (even near us!)
The article and recent gastronomic guides (Michelin Guide 2026) confirm the Marche as an unmissable destination for gourmets.
We are lucky to be in a strategic position, a short distance from some of the “temples” of Italian cuisine:
Senigallia (AN): The confirmed capital of taste with the 3 stars of Uliassi and the 2 stars of Madonnina del Pescatore by Moreno Cedroni.
Pesaro (PU): Just a stone’s throw from us shines the star of the Nostrano restaurant.
New entries: The region continues to grow with new stars (such as the recent Casa Bertini in Recanati), demonstrating incredible culinary excitement throughout the territory.
3. Not just food: a wellness experience
ANSA highlights how food in the Marche is not just about “eating,” but part of a broader concept of wellness and lifestyle. The slow pace, respect for seasonality, and care for raw materials are the secrets to the longevity of the Marche people.
